The DERMATOLOGIKUM HAMBURG is located in the listed Alten Oberpostdirektion building at Stephansplatz 5. The Alte Oberpostdirektion is a historical building in the centre of Hamburg and was built at the end of the 19th century by the Hamburg architect Julius Raschdorf. The generous premises, encompassed by an Italian facade, cover around 2,500 square metres separated by wide and light corridors. All the rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and the amount of daylight plus the lighting allows for an excellent inspection of the skin, which is a major prerequisite for making an exact diagnosis.

In May 2009 the DERMATOLOGIKUM HAMBURG moved temporarily to Drehbahn 1-3 so that substantial refurbishment and renovation of the beautiful but somewhat aged Alten Oberpostdirektion can be carried out.

Along with the refurbishment, a new concept is planned for the Alte Oberpostdirektion. The concept is to create a medical centre, a lively academic centre for health and science. The representative large entrance hall of the building shall also be made accessible to the public again, cafes and shops are included in the planning.

Once the renovation phase is over, the DERMATOLOGIKUM HAMBURG will move back into the freshly refurbished premises at Stephansplatz 5 and bring the new concept to life.
